www.stageopmalta.nl was founded by Yolande Kleinjan, who operates in Malta with a dedicated team that facilitates a meaningful, challenging and suitable internship for you.
Stageopmalta.nl stands for bilingualism, out-of-the-box thinking, flexibility and creativity, through experiential education.
Malta is the perfect place to gain international work experience. The island is located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, has a wealth of culture and a vibrant nightlife. The sea water is bluer than blue and Malta is one of the sunniest countries in Europe.
In addition, English is one of the country’s two official languages and you can fly there in just 2.5 hours from The Netherlands and Belgium.
Doing an internship in Malta is a great addition to your CV. You will show that you are adventurous and open to new people and cultures. You will also develop important qualities that you will need in your future career.
But besides all the adventure, it is of course important that you go somewhere you feel at home and safe, and of course where you can develop your skills! So choose your internship with care. An internship that suits your needs and education.
That is why the first introductory meeting with you is free and non-binding.

If you have any questions or would like to know more, please do not hesitate to contact us first. This can be done in many ways:
WhatsApp, e-mail, or call
As soon as we have received your registration form, we will contact you to make an online appointment. This way we can talk to each other face to face. This meeting serves as an opportunity for us to connect, review your registration form together, and address any inquiries you may have.
The introductory meeting is completely non-binding and free of charge. Following this meeting, the decision to utilize our service is entirely up to you. The costs associated with this service depends on the package you select. These can be found under the costs and financing section.
As soon as we have reached an agreement, we will get to work to identify your perfect internship. We will kindly request for a small down payment before the start of the work, depending on the package you choose. If we can’t find anything for you, you will receive the full amount of the deposit back.
Based on your education, wishes and internship requirements, we will work to identify the perfect internship for you. As soon as there is a match with a company, we will contact you immediately.
For both yourself and the internship company, it is beneficial to have an initial conversation. This allows you to gain insights into the company and have your questions addressed directly. This is why we also organise an online interview with the internship company. Prepare well for this conversation, because the first impression is always the most important!
Following this interview, we will gather feedback from both the internship company and from you regarding the first impression. If the feedback is positive from both sides, there is a match!
At this stage, you will also receive an invoice from us for the (other) agency costs. However, in the unlikely event that there is no match, we will continue to search for you. Of course, we cannot keep offering companies endlessly.
Based on the package you have selected; we will provide assistance in finding you the right accommodation and ensure that the correct documents are signed.
For example, we help you in obtaining the necessary contracts and permits for your internship in Malta. If you are eligible for funding through the Erasmus+ program, we encourage you to consult with your own study program for further assistance for this. You can find more information about Erasmus+ on their official website. (Erasmus+)
Welcome! All your preparations have paid off. You are now ready to embark on a very important part of your education: your internship. If this has been agreed with you, we will be waiting for you at the airport to accompany you to the internship company for your first official introduction. We remain readily available, throughout your internship, to assist you with any questions or concerns that may arise. In addition to our Maltese network, we have also built valuable partnerships with Dutch (educational) institutions.
Malta Rocks & Educational Institutions
Stage op Malta is proud to be part of Malta Rocks, an initiative by ROCvAF. ROCvAF has established the Malta Hub, ensuring that every student doing an internship in Malta can rely on Stage op Malta as a local point of contact. We are available to answer questions and provide support on-site, always in close collaboration with the school.
Other educational institutions have also found their way to Stage op Malta. They appreciate having a Dutch-speaking contact person on the island and entrust us with their internship placements.
Accreditation & Recognition
We maintain close ties with SBB, allowing us to facilitate and speed up the accreditation process for companies that wish to become recognized training organizations. Additionally, we are a recognized training company ourselves!
Accommodation & Insurance
For student accommodation, Stage op Malta refers students to Mijn Stage Malta, a specialized organization for student housing in Malta.
We also collaborate with InsureToStudy, an insurance company designed specifically for students going abroad for an internship. One insurance that covers everything, hassle-free. Depending on the selected package, this insurance provides travel insurance, additional health insurance, and liability insurance, even covering your internship workplace.
This is crucial because your basic Dutch health insurance often provides little to no coverage abroad, and when it does, it is usually limited to emergency medical care at Dutch reimbursement rates. This means that if you need medical assistance abroad, your insurance will only cover costs up to the amount that is standard in the Netherlands. Any excess costs must be paid out of pocket. That’s why we recommend taking out private insurance to ensure full coverage and avoid unexpected expenses.
For more information, visit www.insuretostudy.com or email info@insuretostudy.com.
If you need assistance in finding suitable accommodation near your internship company, Stage op Malta collaborates closely with Mijn Malta Stage, a placement agency specialized in student housing. Here too, you will have a Dutch-speaking contact person who will help you find the right accommodation.
Here you will find the registration form. As soon as we have received the form, we will contact you for a first free introductory meeting. This conversation will take place online.

These costs can be paid from, for example: Erasmus+
Erasmus+, is a European program for education, training, youth and sport in Europe. The scholarship is intended for EU students who want to study or do an internship in another country within the European Union.
The exact amount of the scholarship depends on the destination and the cost of living there. You apply for the grant at your own educational institution, they are the ones who then allocate the budget for the students. It is best to inquire with the international office or a dean. They often also know more about additional requirements and deadlines. Apply for the scholarship on time! Schools often have a certain budget available per year, and you don’t want to miss out.
Even if you have recently graduated, you are still eligible for the Erasmus grant. The condition is that you must not have received your diploma no more than a year ago and you need to submit the grant application while you are still enrolled at an educational institution.
As a student you will probably receive a student travel product from DUO and NS. You can also benefit from this when you go abroad. If you suspend your student travel product, you can receive a reimbursement of approximately € 120.96 per month in 2023. Click here for more information.
Even if you receive student finance in the Netherlands, it is possible to take it abroad. This is only possible if you remain enrolled at your current educational institution. The financing remains the same as if you were to stay in the Netherlands.
More information about the possibilities can be found on the DUO website.
If you want to invest in something, you have to save for it. Doing an internship abroad costs money. You need money for your accommodation, for public transport, for food and drinks and of course for going out and having fun. Many costs can be covered from the grant from Erasmus+ or the Dutch student finance, but it is always nice to have an extra lira. Internship Malta helped me fantastically when I only had a week left to find an accredited internship. Her quick action and professionalism made all the difference. Thanks to her efforts, I now have a great internship, which could not have been better. In short, excellent service! What was extra special is that Yolande conducted a free and pleasant online meeting beforehand. This gave me a nice idea of the service I could expect. As a result, the whole process was not only efficient but also personal and caring.

Hi, I'm Lotte and I am currently doing an internship in Malta at an Event Agency that works for international companies based in France, Belgium & the Netherlands. We organize large events for these companies, which also involves arranging accommodation, activities & dinners. What do I do? I manage the various media accounts for this company, I also edit various photos, write texts about the various locations, create content agendas, filters and themes for posting. In addition, when the events start again (April), I can work on location to take photos and videos of the various events. This will allow me to see a lot of the island during my internship period. All in all, the perfect balance for me between an internship and enjoying the island.

We would like to thank Yolande again for her help! In addition to being professional, Yolande is also a very warm person. She helped us very well with finding an internship. Although there were some complications in the beginning between the company and us in agreeing the contract, this was also resolved successfully with her help. We could always contact her with our questions and she was there as a good intermediary. It was an exciting step for us to do an internship abroad, but Yolande reassured us enormously by guiding us well. We definitely recommend other students to look for an internship in Malta through Yolande.
Lots of love Vera and Yenthl (students Legal Administrative Services, Summa College)
It was such a pleasure to welcome the students of Albeda College, the Netherlands and Yolande Kleinjan to the Cugo Gran Macina to show them around our Fortress. Such a great bunch of young minds, who I’m quite sure are going on to do amazing things! Cugó Gran Collection #students #fortress

I had the pleasure to collaborate with Yolande for two consecutive years, and I couldn’t be happier with the service provided. She is very professional with coordinating all the paperwork required, selecting the students and organize the interviews, and always available throughout the internship for anything that may arise. Other than being an excellent professional, it is a pleasure working with her also for her human side.
